Versatile and driven, Gaurav offers skills in strategic planning, operations management, and advanced analytics gained over 20+ years of leadership experience. In that time, he has forged collaborative partnerships across organizations to deliver advanced technical solutions to complex challenges.
Rocio is a senior planning and transformation practitioner passionate about strategy development, project initiation and the use of technology to drive sustainability outcomes. She has extensive experience working with large property portfolios, in leading public and private sector organisations in Australia, Canada, Mexico and Indonesia. She brings 20+ years in climate resilience, carbon management, strategic asset management and corporate sustainability reporting.
Anupiya is an award-winning Senior Data Scientist and an Honorary Research Fellow at Murdoch University. Having worked on many data science projects in multiple areas Anupiya has had the unique opportunity to research and experiment with some of the more complex machine learning techniques, resulting in many published research papers. Some of his papers introduced novel approaches for applying Deep Learning in the areas of Natural Language Understanding, Time Series, Image Processing, and Data Analysis.
Tanya Perry is an Environmental Science degree qualified sustainability professional with 20+ years of experience gained within the resources sector. Tanya has worked in operational and corporate environment and social management roles in the bauxite mining, alumina refining and oil and gas industries.Tanya is values driven and passionate about data-driven impactful solutions for great sustainability performance.
Matthew is a Chemical Engineer with a Masters in Data Science with 10+ years’ experience working in Mining, Oil, and Gas. He has worked in all facets of Engineering from Design, to Projects to Managing Operations and Operational Teams, working with teams of consultants and clients across the mining and oil and gas sector in innovation, digital transformation, dynamic supply chain modelling and change management. He excels in client focused solutions and has a resourceful approach to identifying solutions and drives these to completion.
Leah is a data and analytics specialist and self-professed SQL nerd. Prior to working at Google, Leah worked with customers across financial services, retail, government, and the resources sector to accelerate their businesses with data driven decision making.
Tina is considered a successful moderniser in her field and is called upon regularly to share her insights on attracting top technology talent, successful career advancement, incorporating diverse hiring practices and building high performing, inclusive cultures.
Zane is the Director of CORE Innovation Hub – Australia’s first co-working, collaboration and innovation hub focused on facilitating growth for WA’s startup and innovator community and connecting with industry in the resources and energy sector. A key pillar has been upskilling today’s talent for tomorrow’s capability through the hub’s CORE Skills programs.
Tamryn is committed to growing a community of world-leading innovators in WA to deliver the ideas, knowledge, culture and skills we need now and into the future. Through the CORE Skills program, Tamryn is supporting data science capability for executives and professionals and helping industry to better understand how all roles can deliver value through data.
Pia Turcinov sits on numerous boards and manages a portfolio career, connected through a common focus on the opportunities which innovation, technology and diversity offer. As immediate-past Chair of WiTWA and co-founder of VentureX HQ, Pia is a vocal champion of diversity, equity and women entrepreneurs.
Dr Li’s research examines digital innovation, performance, safety and well-being in the workplace. Eden is also a research fellow at the ARC Training Centre for Transforming Maintenance Through Data Science. Her research at the centre aims to translate advances in data science arising from the research projects into workplace improvement for the future mining industry.
Ben is a passionate machine learning practitioner with extensive experience delivering automation and process control solutions to his clients. Ben combines practical industry experience, strong ongoing professional development, and a focus on problem definition to deliver innovative solutions that provide real value.
Gary has worked in the data and analytics industry for the last 25 years, including a broad range of platforms and customers. Working at Snowflake, Gary’s ongoing objective is to see data become an increasingly important commodity, whilst its value is realised to its full potential by analysts and Data Scientists.
Sarada is the Co-Founder and Principal Data Scientist at Perth Machine Learning Group where she is focused on building industry capability in AI throughout WA. Sarada transitioned from her career as a professional accountant into an AI practitioner, and now helps run one of the most active ML communities in Australia.
Niamh is a Digital & Data Consultant, supporting teams to reimagine better inclusive, sustainable, data-driven & adaptable. As an advocate of tech innovation and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI), she volunteers with WITWA, INCITE Awards (Chair, 2021), Openmined.org and as a Consultative Committee Member at Edith Cowan University (ECU).
Cecily leads the WA AustCyber Innovation Hub and is dedicated to working with organisations that strive for positive, equitable and inclusive impact. Cecily is a proven innovator with the ability to bring people together to develop new and creative solutions to complex problems.
Prior to joining the Curtin Institute for Computation (CIC), Dan has worked on numerous projects funded by the European Space Agency and World Bank, which included, shallow water habitat mapping from space and radiative transfer modelling. Dan is the principal investigator at the CIC for the Autonomous Fish Identification (AFID) project which uses machine learning to automate labelling of fish from underwater videos for habitat conservation research.
Kathryn is the Lead Data Scientist for the Curtin Open Knowledge Initiative (COKI) project. She joined the Curtin Institute for Computation in 2018 and has worked on a range of projects, from the analysis of pathology data to drive improvements in patient care in the diagnosis of bloodstream infections, to developing machine learning models to estimate the joint angles of ballet dancers performing leg lifts.
Kylah has over 15 years’ experience working in private companies in the oil & gas industry, indigenous organisations, not-for-profits, and start-ups. From 2016 to 2019 Kylah championed regional economic development as the President, then CEO of the local Chamber of Commerce, and Founding Chairperson of the Pilbara Universities Centre. Kylah is passionate about innovation, diversity and inclusion, indigenous affairs, corporate governance and sustainability.
Luan is a Senior Consultant with solid expertise in advanced analytics, ML and AI. His career spans over 10 years in mining, logistics, agriculture, and marketing sectors. He holds a PhD in mining engineering and is a member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM), Australian Consultant Society (ConSoc), and APCOM2021 conference organising committee.
Felipe Allevato is a senior consultant with 13+ years of experience in many industries, which include mining, retail, oil and gas, logistics and telecom.He works applying advanced analytics skills such simulation and optimisation mainly to operations, logistics and supply chain. He has been a lecturer for 4+ years, including a Logistics post-graduate course in Brazil, and a Data Storytelling unit to UWA’s Master of Business Analytics.
As Women in Technology WA Tech [+] 20 Award Winner 2021, Legal Technology & Innovation Committee Chair for the Association of Corporate Counsel and Advisory Board Member for the Centre for Legal Innovation Aust & NZ, SJ has inspired use of data science in the law and beyond.
Eun-Jung (EJ) has leading expertise in data science applied to geoscience. Her team works closely with mining industry and develops innovative visual analytics, machine learning and AI solutions. She is the winner of the AI in Mining category in Women in AI Awards, Australia and New Zealand, 2022.
Jeremy is a lead data scientist with extensive expertise in delivering data science insights and products for marketing and commercial teams. He is an expert in machine learning, statistical analysis and optimisations. Prior to his data science career, Jeremy was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Imperial College London, where he took particular interest in teaching and supervising Masters and undergraduate student projects.
Dr Garrett is a Solutions Architect at XSights Digital who are an Australian-owned company focused on being the leading provider of technology enhanced data collection and insights reporting solutions within the IoT and Sensing as a Service space. This role extends on Michael’s previous experience within the applied research and digital systems domain.
Accomplished Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing researcher Professor Lawrence has been appointed the first Dean of Indigenous Engagement at Curtin University where he will help extend cultural understanding and open up exciting new career pathways for Indigenous students. Professor Lawrence was the 2008 Australian-American Fulbright Indigenous Scholarship recipient, studied at Harvard University and most recently was the head of the Centre for Indigenous Technology Research and Development at the University of Technology Sydney
